5,000 acres of improved ranch land to hunt native bob white quail.
The ranch is a mixture of mesquite and brush with open strips that
have been cleared of mesquite in the Spring of 2008. I estimate that
there was 1,500 acres cleared with a bulldozer and then raked into piles.
This has improved the quail hunting habitat on the ranch for sure.

We have had significant rainfall that started in January. We had several rain events
in March, April and May. The grasses are knee deep as of May 18. The range
conditions are excellent for quail nesting. Hopefully, the rain will continue in
moderate amounts through June. I am optimistic about the quail for 2010 - 2011.
JUNE 2010 - Fantastic June Rain came this year. The grass is knee deep and still
green in July. We have not had one day of 100 degrees.

The quail hunting on the ranches is for the conservative bird hunter.
This ranches are great for dog work.

The quail population continues to be low on the ranches as of JAN 2010. Spring rainfall is needed for a rebound quail hatch in Spring 2010. Everyone is hopeful that we have a
wet spring. The quail will rebound with consistent rainfall.

Archer County is cattle country and has always been quail hunting country. There are feeders on the ranches to supplement quail diets and concentrate quail
for better hunting. I am a quail conservationist
and like hunters that also share that philosophy.
Quail are worth the preservation effort.
